It has almost officially been an entire year since the last time I talked about lash extensions... SOOOO I think we're in store for a lil update and a lil more information.
Now that I have moved back to California and have a deeper knowledge of lash extensions, I want to share EVERYTHING I know with y'all.
I am now fueling up before my ortho appointment {wish me luck} and eating my favorite Health Nut salad, so I am going to spill the tea for you are share some things I didn't even know about lash extensions and maintenance... Who knew I would have such a good memory when it came to things I actually want to write about {as oppose to in school when I had to write about the laws of ethics, different Constitutional things, and you get it}.
First and foremost -- I have had A TON of people DM me on insta-g asking where I get my lashes done. Although I live a lil North of Los Angeles {iykyk, but if not I'm gonna keep it confidential for stalker purposes}, I make the trek out to around Marina Del Rey. I go to a place called Lash Cupid {probably about 12 mins from Abbot Kinney and 12 mins from LAX if you're going based on well-known locations} and I go to a woman by the name of Brianna {she's the owner}. If you like what I get and the length I get, you can just mention my name and tell her you want the same as me. I am literally sooooo obsessed with my lashes, and can't even imagine my life without them at this point... ALSO, I know that extensions can be super pricey, but luckily Lash Cupid keeps their prices reasonable AND you can even pay for special packages {hint: that's what I do}.
ANYWAYS, now I wanna spill the tea and share some insider secrets with y'all and clear up some of the myths you may have heard and fallen gullible to {like myself}. Also before I get into the good stuff, I wanna start out by also saying the seasons are changing which could also have to do with the amount of lashes being lost {if you're suffering the losses like I am}.
It could be that you have allergies and are rubbing your eyes more than you realize or that you're staring at a bright a** screen more than normal which is causing you to rub your eyes more than normal... Lash cycles are all different and the seasons could be one to blame for this one too.
TIPS, TRICKS, AND SECRETS:
⭐︎ Wet lashes are more vulnerable: When you have just hopped out of the shower, struggled your way out of the ocean, or gotten out of the pool, it is more likely for you to lose lashes so DO NOT rub your eyes.
⭐︎ Brushing your lashes helps keep them detangled: I will be honest and say that I NEVER brushed my lashes in Texas; however, I wasn't as active there as I am in California. Now that I am going to the beach, running around town doing who knows what, boxing and sweating like a mad woman, etc. I have started brushing mine out... RIP to the lashes that come out when I brush them out but you don't brush to make them last longer, you brush to keep them from getting tangled. Also, DO NOT brush immediately after getting out of the shower!!
⭐︎ Lash growing serum is a game changer: Kinda a myth {but kinda the truth... I used Latisse to grow my eyebrow back when I tried "trimming" it and instead cut an entire chunk off in middle school}. Lash serum is basically a steroid for your lashes. I am not saying that when you stop using it all your lashes will fall out BUT once you stop using it, your lashes will go back to your normal length and growth cycle. I personally suck at remembering to use a serum {granted I can't even get myself to shave every time I shower}, so I am definitely not a gal who can use it... Plus its pricy af.
⭐︎ There are vitamins you can take that will help with lash growth and durability: Vitamins that help with hair and nail growth will also help your lashes... Once again I forget to take my vitamins every freakin day, so this wouldn't be for me {although I know I have some... next week I can put some vitamin promo codes up here for y'all}. If you aren't into digesting these vitamins though, there is an alternative {that apparently works} called Grande Lash that you can buy on Amazon. It is apparently packed with vitamins that will help with lash growth and strength.
⭐︎ Coconut oil or Vaseline help you lashes: FALSE!! My goodness, I had read this multiple places; however, I always refused to try it because both are oils {duhhhh... coconut OIL} and Vaseline is just super goopy so I didn't want either of those getting into my eyes OR causing a stye. Now if it's working for you {or you think it is because you tricked yourself to think that} then you do you boo boo BUT if you want to hear about an actual oil that is supposed to help... Keep reading... TEA TREE OIL!! And spoiler alert: tea tree oil also helps with acne by helping fight inflammation and redness.
⭐︎ Wash your eyelashes: Apparently just washing your face isn't good enough... Trust me, cause I thought it was BUT Brianna {the lash queen // pro}, said it's not. It's very important to wash your lashes, preferably with a foaming wash. Now, I'm not saying to scrub your eyes BUT more so to rub near the lash line because it ensures any build up of oil and dirt {which make lashes prone to breakage} gets washes away. ALSO, make sure you aren't using harsh face wash full of sulfite {aka: salt} because that will eat away at the lash glue and also dry out your lashes.
Now -- Are we freakin impressed that I remembered ALL of that ORRRRR are we impressed?!
Even after reading my own tips and tricks, I know I need to still work on the washing and the brushing of my lashes {oops}... Also may need to invest in some tea tree oil and start working on ACTUALLY taking my vitamins and being consistent. Looks like I have lots to do haha!!
I hope this helps you out and don't worry... I'LL BE BACK HERE ON FRIDAY!!
xoxo V
