I am LITERALLY the worst and I hope y'all accept my apology!! I realize that I said, just a couple of weeks ago, that I was going to be consistent in my posting; however, with my big move {I promise a before and after video will come soon} and recently learning that I really don't have a set job for the next six months, I was thrown for a loop. Now I am last minute shopping {for bar stools, kitchen necessities, groceries, etc.} and trying to find another job when I am off the clock.
Forget about that though because many times when you look good, you feel good and FOR ME, that starts with my lashes {and brows and mustache}… BUT let’s just focus on lashes for now.
When I turned 21 was when I started getting lash extensions. My junior year of college. My family was in town because it also just so happened to be Family Weekend at TCU, and I wanted to try out the new “fad.” For my birthday dinner, I talked my mama into letting me go to Amazing Lashes downtown and I got my first set.
THEY LOOKED SOOOOOO GOOD!! I felt prettier, they didn't feel like they were weighing down my eyes, and I was sooooo excited, BUT in order to get you coming back, they require you to set up a membership with them.
I got my first set for $80 and ran. I was told originally that I was only going to be able to have them for my 21st, and I didn't want to get myself into a binding contract anyways. I also didn't want to return to the place because another set was going to be about $150 if I wasn't a “member.”
My mama saw how good they made me feel, and with lash extensions I needed absolutely no make up!! Granted, I haven't really been the “makeup type,” except when I am going to a formal event or the occasional “I’m going to hit the town,” I kept it to a minimal: Better Than Sex mascara {I HIGHLY recommend}.
Until I got home for winter break in December, I found an AMAZING woman {Felicia}, who I just ABSOLUTELY LOVED going to. She was INCREDIBLE and soon affordable, especially for a college student like myself {$60}.
NOW — In January I left for Spain where I went to school and interned for a little over half a year. Because I wanted to continue looking good and feeling good, I decided to go to lash places in Madrid and Barcelona.
To keep this post to the point, I will be honest and say that I lost LITERALLY ALL OF MY REAL LASHES!! All of the places I went spoke absolutely no English, and I was required to Google Translate what I wanted to them, BUT again, I had to have what I was going to say to them prepared because I didn't have data.
For months, I tried to grow my lashes back, and I TRULY give all the credit to Latisse…
Let me just tell you, I had another hair issue in my past that I owe my life to Latisse. In middle school I thought I was being handy and saving my mama money by trying to trim my own eyebrows {you know, like how estheticians do after you get your eyebrows waxed}. Long story short, I cut an ENTIRE CHUNK of hair from the middle of my left brow… I HAD A HUGE GAP!! I practically had three eyebrows, BUT I eventually was able to grow them back…
Now my tips for ANYBODY going to get lash extensions:
☆ Make sure you are willing to maintain them!! You are technically supposed to get your lashes refilled every two to three weeks {sometimes I wait four weeks and FELICIA I’M SORRY!!}
☆ Not all lashes are the same… There are synthetic, mink, and silk and each one weighs {and costs} differently
☆ Although I don't really “clean and brush” my lashes {other than my usual shower face wash}, I have been told that cleaning your lashes and brushing them regularly will make them last longer
☆ Do NOT pull at your lashes!! I have had a friend that said they were too heavy for her and that they were uncomfy and she went ahead and tugged at her real lashes and cut them herself… THAT’S WHAT PROFESSIONALS ARE FOR!!
☆ If you're going to try a new place, ASK what kind of products they use… Some have the potential to damage what you have if they are unnatural
Now for all my FORT WORTH AND DALLAS LADIES who have asked me where I get my lashes done, I have done the honors of linking my lady: FELICIA!! You can book any of her services through that link, and even check out some of her work on her Insta-g.
Feel free to connect with me and let me know some more things y'all would like me to blog about!!
