HAPPY HUMP DAYYYY!!
This hump day I am NOT talking about humps… I am going to be talking to you about TEETH!!
I mean, who doesn’t like some pearly whites?!
I want to preface this post off by saying that I had the opportunity to partner with a company by the name of Smile Brilliant. Guyssss!! I was literally SOOOO excited because I’m sure I’m not the only one when I say this BUT I want whiter teeth.
Honestly - I feel like everybody looks at themselves in the mirror and will be pick on themselves and find something wrong with them. For me, it’s “I am so fat even though I work out at least five times a week for one to two hours,” or “why the heck do I have cellulite,” or “if only I were tanner, then I would look better,” or “why can’t my teeth be whiter,” etc…
I’ll begin by saying that we have to stop looking in the mirror and criticizing ourselves. Our imperfections are what make us beautiful and I know it’s WAYYYY easier said than done {and I’m kinda hypocritical for making this comment} but it’s true.
ANYWAYS - When this company reached out to me in regard to a partnership, I was ecstatic. Although it was unpaid, I was excited to get some whiter teeth. Now, I’ll be honest when I tell you that my teeth are one of the first things people notice about me {and no I’m not bragging, I’m just from a family with a lot of dentists // oral surgeons}; however, even with all the compliments people told me about my “white teeth,” I thought they could be whiter.
I agreed to the partnership with Smile Brilliant and they immediately sent me a box to begin the process.
The box literally comes with EVERYTHING you would need for whiter teeth: the molding materials {tray and hard goop stuff}, a prepaid envelope to send the molds back, and the whitening gels.
I made it through step one: complete molds for both upper and lower teeth. SUCCESS!! I will tell you though, as simple as it is to do yourself, if you think about gagging, you will gag {lol}. Both the top and the lower molds come with two different putties that you’re supposed to mix together {by hand} and the chemical reaction helps them formulate the end product… In more simpler words: By mixing the two putties together, the molds are capable of hardening.
The molding process is so easy though… Mix the putty, put it in the tray, and hold it in your mouth for about one minute {I used my phone’s timer to help me out} and repeat with the next tray. After completing both the molds, soak them under cold water and let them sit for about 45 minutes. There’s an instructions pamphlet in the box though, so don’t worry about reading my blog post again.
After step one of the process I was PUMPED to get my molds back…
While I was waiting to get my molds back, which only took about a week or so, I had my yearly dentist appointment. When I arrived and sat in what some people call “the chair of doom” and my dentist {who just so happens to be my grandpa} asked me if I whiten my teeth.
**this photo was taken on my iPhone XS Max. It has not been edited one bit**
I told him I didn’t… Although in college I tried the Crest whitestrips… GRANTED, I decided to break that “30 minutes” rule and I slept with them in my mouth under my retainer… The pain I woke up in was absolutely unbearable SOOOO that was the last time I tried whitening my teeth...
I told him that story and he was astonished.
Apparently, my teeth don’t even have a “comparable tooth color” on the teeth color spectrum. My teeth exceed the whitest “natural” teeth color and he said it would be impossible for me to get my teeth any whiter.
With that news, I was devastated to not be able to actually utilize Smile Brilliant’s box of teeth whitening supplies so I sadly had to reach out to the company and let them know I could not proceed in the process of whitening my teeth; however, if there ever comes a day where I don’t brush my teeth at least twice a day or I need to whiten my teeth, I will have access to my molds and gels.
I wanted to write this post to tell y’all how dang easy getting whiter teeth can be and how you don’t have to professionally get your molds done. Smile Brilliant’s molding process probably takes ten minutes {max… cause I kept rereading instructions to make sure I was doing it right} and then another week to get your trays back in the mail. After that, your shiny white teeth are in the near future.

I was honestly skeptical at first too… And truthfully worried about what exactly I would be putting in my mouth. All I can say now though is that it is worth a try and you won’t know until you try it and you don't know what your teeth {and smile} are capable of becoming either!!

ALSO -- Today marks the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City. 9/11 is one of the days in history I will never forget {and I know it will be a day that is forever remembered}... I was in kindergarten when it happened and I remember watching the news the entire day in class while everything happened. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and a multitude of people lost their loved ones... Make sure you consistently tell the people you love how you feel about them. So many people risked their lives to save others and I believe that is so incredible and such an inspiration.
