Fitness Obsession

HO.LY. FREA.KIN. HECK.

Did y'all just read that as though there were pauses // claps in the middle?! Because that's honestly what I was going for BUTTTT anyways, holy freakin heck guys... I have had QUITE the day and by "day" I mean, I LITERALLY had the most basic day in Brentwood // Santa Monica that ANYBODY could have.

Let's just say this was the order of events today:

☆ 7:00 am: Tracy Anderson Method {reason for my post... I'll talk about it below}

☆ 8:00 am: Alfred Coffee

☆ 8:30 am: Erewhon {had to get breakfast basics}

☆ 9:30 am: shower & make beaky & get stuff together

☆ 11:00 am: Abbot Kinney {I go to Intelligenstia to work whenever I'm staying in Santa Monica}

☆ 2:00 pm: pick up Tocaya Organica {BOMB bowls babyyyyy}

☆ 2:30 pm: eat & work & catch up on emails & nap & work more

NOW -- I am creating this blog for y'all though and then my biggie {shoutout Nicolle} is going to come over so we can hang out and get caught up with each other {I think she may nap on the couch too lol} and then were going to head to din {probably at Sweet Green}. Does that NOT sound like the MOST BASIC DAY EVER though?! Also debating if I wanna stay the night one more night in Santa Monica so I can go to my favorite lagree studio in Marina Del Rey, but that will probably be a sporadic decision I make later tonight so tbd...

Let's get to it though...

Guys, I SWEAR to God that I have never had such an intense workout in my life... and I have tried TONS of workouts in my life. When I first took lagree, I "semi" said the same thing because I was sweating within minutes and I ACTUALLY felt my core working. Not to mention, I felt it in the morning and the days following but at least that workout was more doable {I may actually do a post on lagree a lil later down the line because I'm trying to find a studio in Westlake to fall in love with and help me get abs}.

Anyways -- Let me just say, the Tracy Anderson Method is B.R.U.T.A.L.

First of all, when I went this morning it was probably 66º outside {Fahrenheit for anybody outside of the US who is reading this post} and I'm used to being in Westlake where it's like 20º warmer. Naturally, I drove to the workout in my workout clothes {Lulu leggings and workout tank and my favorite white nikes} AND probably one of my lightest sweatshirts that I just bought from Free People because it's so dang cute, comfy, and sporty chic.

I parked in the lot that for "valet only" because Lulu customers and Tracy Anderson students are allowed to park there for free {that's a tip for any newbies who decide to go to the Brentwood location and don't want to park on the street like I almost did} and upon walking into just the main entrance of the studio, I was blown away with a hot gust of air.

Don't worry though... It didn't stop there...

The main entrance is just where the adorable {and tempting} workout clothes are and where the front desk is. You still have to walk through another door to get to the pilates reformers and lockers and then another door from there to get into the main studio. To say the least, the main studio was AT LEAST 15º hotter than the main entry. I began sweating instantly...

I had no idea this was a heated workout or really what I was getting myself into.

My cousin {shoutout Laura} is actually the one who talked me into going with her at 7:00 am before she had to go for work and to figure out what it was generally about, I had to go to the Tracy Anderson Method instagram. Even there though, I watched the videos of Tracy and kept thinking to myself that the workout would be doable and that I would be fine... WRONG!!

Let me just tell you before you go trying it that a SINGLE CLASS is $45. Granted, if I actually had the money and the budget to keep it up, I feel like I would cause I can only imagine what kinda shape that class would get my booty in if I went repeatedly. HOWEVER, I also had Googled the prices regarding memberships and Tracy Anderson memberships are some of the most expensive fitness memberships found {at least in the US}.

That's just the money and heat talk though...

In a heated room for Tracy Anderson Method, you are expected to do TONS of body movements {I literally got so lost trying to keep up with the instructor and looked like a fool in the mirror but oh whale}, some 5lb and 3lb weights {which seems like nothing until you do tons of repetitions... trust me, for my training I use 10lbs for my "small" weights}, some odd {but oddly brutal} floor work with weights on your ankles, etc.

I was hot. I was sweaty. I was winded. I felt like I was going to pass out.

Somehow, I managed to make to to the end of the 50 minute class though, and by the time I made it outside to where the lockers were {which is still a heated area} I was feeling soooooo light headed. My vision was really weird and my hearing was kinda fuzzy so I quickly grabbed my bag {t god I didn't lock my locker because I don't think time would have been on my side} and I ran to the main entrance to sit and bring myself back to reality before heading to Alfred's {#basic}.

For those of you still wondering who Tracy Anderson is:

☆ She is a fitness guru {not even kidding... check out her body} who once wanted to be a professional dancer

☆ She is a celebrity trainer who trains people like Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, J-Lo, etc. {now the pricing makes sense to me...}

Why // how does the method work:

☆ It's a high heat, humidity, and intensity workout

☆ It's a class full of ever-changing movements {or dance moves} that work different muscle groups and it also keeps those muscles in constant tension

☆ The heat and humidity help accelerate the burning

BASICALLY -- Long story short, if you are in an area that has Tracy Anderson AND you can afford it, I highly recommend it. If you're wanting to sweat and feel as though you did a BOMBBBB workout, then I highly recommend Tracy Anderson. BUTTTT if you want to not pay AS MUCH and you don't have access to a studio, Tracy Anderson also offers an online streaming service that you can sign up for {BUT that also is pricy}.

Anyways, hopefully I will one day make it back BUT I just wanted to fill y'all in on an upcoming fitness fad of my own!!

xoxo V
