Happy Friday beauties!! I am about to head to the airport to go to Boston {praying the birthday girl doesn’t read this tonight cause Tati and I are surprising her} BUTTTT I figured I would fill y’all in on something I attempted this week…
Have you ever not been able to shut your stomach up? ME TOO.
Have you been so hungry that you realize your hands are constantly shaking? SAME.
Have you ever had to pee every like five minutes? IT’S THE LITERAL WORST.
I attempted to a three day bone broth fast which ultimately turned into a two day fast {ending the second day with a pint of vegan // gluten free ice cream} BUTTTT I am actually planning on doing a bone broth fast every week {Tuesday through Thursday} because I do think it helped me with losing water weight.
NOW — Why in the world would you do a bone broth fast?!
First of all… What even IS bone broth?! My friends thought I was nuts when I told them what I was doing, and they told me that it just sounds DISGUSTING.
I’ve included a photo of the bone broth that I used for the two days above {sorry it’s such a bad pic… I took it as I was heading to Dallas to leave for the airport} which is all natural, hormone free, GMO free, and gluten free. Chicken bone broth specifically is prepared by boiling the bones and connective tissues of a chicken in water with yeast extract and sea salt.
During the fast itself, you are supposed to have six to eight cups of the broth per day {for my two days I had two jars a day… aka about 7.5 cups of bone broth}. My calorie intake per day was about 105 {scary to think about now since I’m JUST realizing that lol}, however because bone broth is packed with protein I was alright. I would just recommend you to not do intense cardio for the duration of the fast.
NOW — WHY DO IT?!
☆ joint supporting collagen
☆ amino acids helps with anti-aging {glycine}
☆ electrolytes // minerals
☆ improves digestion
☆ release of water weight
☆ fresher // hydrated skin
Anyways — If you were hesitant to trying a bone broth fast, I hope this post kinda helps you make up your mind. If you do choose to do it, just know you’re going to be peeing like crazy so it kinda would help if you don’t have much to do. I also got shaky SO the next time I actually make it through the three days of fasting, I’m going to limit myself to a breakfast of two hardboiled eggs {without the yolk}.
