I am SOOOOOO sorry that I never ended up posting on Friday… I stayed the weekend at Tatiana’s after nannying on Thursday // Friday and she still has not had her cable or internet set up yet!! I also ended up with a shattered phone screen {thank you alcohol and OSU student}.

ANYWAYS — A lot of you have seen my insta posts about lymphatic drainage, and for some reason I have become OBSESSED with it and try to do it at least twice a day. For those of you who don’t know what lymphatic drainage is, don’t feel bad because I really had no idea until I started seeing some other instagrammer post about BUT I wanna fill you in on it.

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE: a type of massage based on preliminary evidence which is hypothesized to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.

In a simpler version, lymphatic drainage basically helps drain the toxins from your body and helps your skin remain looking young and fresh… If you’re wanting to get lymphatic drainage done professionally, head to the nearest spa for a facial and // or massage.

PERKS OF LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE:

☆ takes down the puffiness of eyes and face {especially good for travel}

☆ boosts your immune system

☆ helps fight stress

☆ produces a feeling of relaxation and detoxification

☆ provides anti-aging benefits

In addition to massages which of course helps with drainage {and I unfortunately can’t get often} I LOVE to take these easy steps just for a healthier face. Feel free to purchase what I am using, or use your favorites you already own because nobody knows your skin better than you do.

FIRST — I love to begin with a clean face and clean tools of course. Because I tend to do this twice a day, I tend to use my Clearisonic brush in the shower at night as a way to exfoliate my face and clean it at the same time; however, I don’t like using it in the morning because I am more likely going to head to yoga to sweat OR I am going to be putting some light foundation on, so I don’t want to open my pores just to clog them up again.

Anyways, I like to start with some natural serum on my face. The two that I like switching between are Glossier’s Super Bounce and K’Pure’s Lighten Up, but you can obviously choose different serums based on what kinda skin thangs you are looking for.

Lighten Up is made out of 100% organic ingredients, some of which include Vitamin E {prevents wrinkles, minimizes scars, helps prevent skin cancer, etc.}, Zinc {prevents acne and oil build up}, Omega 3 {delays aging, regulates oil production, etc.}, among other helpful ingredients. Super Bounce is full of hyaluronic acid which stimulates skin cell regeneration, helps fight wrinkles, and fights acne, and Vitamin B5 which naturally regenerates and moisturizes skin, ultimately easing up tight and rough skin.

SECOND — I lather on a layer of moisturizer; but, the type I use depends on the time of day because Clinique is lighter and Cerave is a little bit thicker and heavier. If I’m traveling I tend to just take my Cereve because it isn’t as big but when I’m home, Cerave becomes my night cream while Clinique is my morning // day moisturizer. Neither of them clog my pores or cause my skin to get super oily so I would totally recommend you using them unless you have something else that seems to work {and if you do, message me cause I would love to check it out!!}

THIRD — I PROMISE you that I am not just going to make you fall into a trap by buying one, because honestly I was worried it was just a “fad” and I had to get one because every other blogger was… I waited until a couple of weeks ago after TONS of research and I am now ADDICTED to the sensation of a jade roller. I got mine on Amazon; however, you can find them basically anywhere online. The reason I like mine though is because it was a great price {compared to many other online vendors} and it came with a gua sha.

What you do is just use the roller upward and outward from your collarbones to your your neck to your face {all the way to your hairline}. The rolling sensation helps prevent wrinkles, reduces inflammation of your face, and increases circulation. Gua sha is pretty similar technique that originated from East Asia as a way to treat muscle pain and tension. What you do is simply scrape {which is the meaning of gua sha in Chinese} the skin; however, in many cases, it can cause bruising or red spots to appear based on the amount of pressure.

FOURTH — This is kinda just an extra step if you’re wanting to step up your facial care routine, but it’s one of my favorite steps. I have been using Clearisonic products for years {I think my mama started making me use the Mia 2 in high school to help with hormonal, sweat, and stress breakouts and I truly swear by it}.

The Clearisonic Smart Profile Uplift comes with three different heads, so technically I could throw away my tie-dye Mia 2 in my shower, but if you couldn’t tell… I’m kinda a hoarder AND I just like keeping the massaging head on it. It also has been proven to have some anti-aging effects such as tightening the jawline and easing wrinkles. Now, if you’re not going to fully commit to using the product, I wouldn’t buy it because it is kinda pricey, but I love massaging my chest and face with it!!

I absolutely love what all these things have been doing to my face, and with my birthday coming up on Thursday, I absolutely do NOT want to age {lol}… What are some of your anti-aging tips, tricks, and secrets?!?

xoxo V
