Just got home from Corepower Yoga and planning my next few days of workouts SOOO I thought today might be a good day to share with y’all the workouts that I SWEAR BY!!
PS: If you are reading this post, I TOTALLY did NOT process the time change… oops!!
Now — For me, it’s going to be a lot different than another person because we all have different body types; however, I’m a person who LOVES workout classes because I feel more motivated than I do while I am in a gym {either at my apartment or school} alone. I just love the atmosphere and meeting new people who are regulars and willing to kick their booties into shape as well.
BARRY’S BOOTCAMP:
Legit, one of the MOST killer workouts EVER… AND once you become a regular, there is absolutely NO WAY of half-assing a workout because the instructors know your name and your face and they’re expecting you to be in their classes. For me, I started going to Barry’s Bootcamp in Los Angeles with one of my friends {Tatiana} and we would die together. I loved knowing that somebody else was struggling as much as me because so many of the LA classes are filled with fitness gurus, models, hot instructors, etc.
Barry’s is known for their intense circuit training. If you go to a class, you will be switching between the treadmill for running and the floor for weights… When I sign up for my class, I personally like signing up for tread first cause I am so exhausted by the end and the floor is also hard {or as hard as the teacher makes you go} so I could not imagine ended on the tread.
ALSO — I am not a runner. I actually thoroughly hate running, but by going to a variety of Barry’s classes I have learned to enjoy it more. Plus, by taking from different teachers, you learn whose playlists you like the best and whose routines you like the best.
Which, leads me to my next point… Every day of the week at Barry’s is focused on a different part of your body. My favorite days are: butt & legs, arms & abs, and full body. No matter what though, you are working EVERYTHING and burning up to 1,000 calories or more SO if that sounds enticing to you and you want to learn more, CLICK HERE!! {And some locations have a smoothie bar that you can pick up a protein smoothie after your workout which is just BOMBBB}
SOULCYCLE:
Cycling is a whole other form of workout and BOY the first time I tried it I did NOT think it was going to be as wild as it actually was. The lights are dimmed and you are hooked into your bike by these lil things on the bottom of your shoes… If you are going to be an avid rider then I highly recommend you investing in your own pair {which typically start out at around $150}; however, if you’re only going to go a couple of times, know that you will be paying about $5 per ride to rent your shoes.
Anyways — Soulcycle {and I’m sure other cycling places are similar} is a VERY high energy place and EVERYBODY is motivated. The lights are out, the candles are lit, and you just pedal and sing along to the tunes as you’re getting yelled at by the instructor to increase your resistance.
Side note though, your butt {and other areas} will hurt SOOO badly the first couple of times you take the class!! However, if you stick to it, I would say the bruised feeling only lasts about a week or so if you are consistently riding… After that, it’s pretty smooth sailing {until you get pulled up onto the podium lol}.
If you feel like getting active and getting over the pain of a bruised butt, then SoulCycle is just for you. Have yourself your own “I Feel Pretty” movie moment and CLICK HERE to see about signing up for a class today!!
COREPOWER YOGA:
Whether you are new the the yoga world or a regular, Corepower has you covered with a variety of classes. My favorites are yoga sculpt, HPF, and C2 because all three have their heat and humidity blasting throughout the entire class so even if you’re doing nothing, you feel like you’re working out anyways because you are constantly sweating.
ALSO — If you are wanting to try out the studio, they will give you one week free of unlimited classes and once you are hooked {if you are hooked} on becoming a yogi by the end of that trial week, then you have many different options to choose from when it comes to choosing a membership. I have the blacktag membership that gives me an unlimited number of classes per month and I think it may be the best one if you are planning on taking three or more classes per week.
If you are a guy reading this and thinking “No way am I going to take yoga,” just know that there are TONS of guys who take the classes… PLUS there are tons of hot girls with banging bods in sports bras, so you may want to rethink that. Out of all the classes I have taken, I think the one that gets the most traction from guys is sculpt though because it’s A LOT of cardio and there is weight training involved in that class as well. OTHER:
When I am unable to make it to a workout class for the day, I typically will spend about one to two hours in the gym either doing a Kayla workout that I have OR grabbing a Tone-It-Up workout from one of their emails, as well as walking // running on the treadmill for at least half an hour.
For those of you who don’t know what a Kayla workout is, they are BRUTAL!! They are set to only take about 28 minutes; however, they can take longer depending on the person and they work different parts of the body. If you are to follow the BBG, then you will have a set workout Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and then the other day’s you are on your own BUT still expected to be active for at least thirty minutes.
Another workout I absolutely LOVE doing on the side is boxing. I have two pairs of gloves that are just so stinking cute {one pair is pink and one pair is blue and pink} and even just having the chance to wear those motivate me to go to a class. Since being in Texas I have only been a few times BUT when I have been home and worked with a trainer, I would box all the time and it works your abs and arms like no other… HIGHLY recommend if you wanna kick your booty into shape {or feel like kicking somebody else’s booty}.
One more workout I love to do is reformer pilates; however, classes aren’t cheap so I haven’t done any reformer pilates in Texas. By doing reformer pilates you are working on core control and strengthening your muscles while stretching at the same time. I love doing pilates the day after a hard hitting workout like Barry’s Bootcamp or boxing {or even SoulCyle if my butt can’t handle a seat for a fourth day in a row}.
Now — If you are looking for a more low key type of workout, put your car keys down and just go on a walk. When I am back home in California {like I am now} I love taking my pups on a walk of our neighborhood or even going on a walk // run on the beach. Nothing is better than some alone time with some puppies… PLUS, you’ll get TONS of breaks because EVERYBODY loves to pet a cute dog!! I mean, haven’t you noticed that guys are chick magnets when they have dogs, even if they aren’t totally cute? You never know who you can meet when you’re out being active!!
