Well Thanksgiving is officially over… It is 1:25 in the morning and I am laying in my bed, just got off of FaceTime with my mama, and currently in a food coma.
Today was one heck of a day to say the very least. Granted I woke up around noon, I spent the majority of my day working on essays and cooking. After three hours of working at Starbucks {which was surprisingly more busy than I would have thought on a holiday}, I made a quick run to the nearest market to pick up last minute cooking supplies, and then I headed to my house to begin preparing a turkey.
FIRST OF ALL who would've thought {well… what college student would have thought**} that an eight pound turkey would be so darn expensive… Secondly, did not realize how long of a process it would be to actually prep the turkey, and did not expect my “petite” turkey to take almost three hours to cook. Long story short though {and to my future husband… if that ever happens lol}, the turkey was BOMB and I even made a quick lil vlog on the process that you can check out if you would like.
Now in terms of the true meaning of Thanksgiving, I don't even know where to begin about how thankful I am for all of the people who are in my life today and all the experiences I have had the opportunity to encounter.
Family: Being the most important to me… I am SOOOO stinking grateful to have my family that is in tact and complete. My direct blood, still healthier than ever {other than my brother’s and my fake hips of course} and my extended family in which I am sending prayers out to my Nanie and Papa currently because while I was in the midst of cooking, I received a phone call from my dad saying that my Papa had just had a seizure and was on his way to the hospital. HOWEVER, family is forever and no matter what, I know they will be by my side to support me and on a day like today, I missed them dearly.
Friends: Thanks to all my friends {near and far} who have continued to put up with my attitude, craziness, need for adventure, terrible hearing, interesting taste in food, etc… I’m lucky I have been able to keep such amazing friendships in my life, even some of which are states away {and possibly soon to be continents away… you know who you are!!}
Education: My family and TCU has blessed me with such an immense amount of knowledge that has put me ahead of the curve in a lot of ways. Without the chance to break out of my shell and leave California, I know I wouldn’t have a lot of the memories and experiences I have today. I probably wouldn’t have come up with my small business, I probably wouldn’t have this blog {or my travel blog}, I definitely wouldn’t have the same friends, etc… This education has been preparing me for a better future and I can’t freakin wait to see where I end up following graduation {December 2018}.
Travel: I have been SO EXTREMELY fortunate to have the opportunities I have had this past year to visit all the different places. It’s not even possible to count on all my fingers and toes how many flights I have been on, up to this date. I have had the chance to immerse myself in a variety of cultures, wander city streets, and fall in love with the world. I hope that one day I can enable my children to do the same because it has been such a growing factor to my life, and I know that I would not be the person I am today without these travel experiences.
Love: You don't need a “significant other” to be thankful for love. Honestly all my family and friends have filled me with all the love and support I need to keep going. It has definitely been a very up and down year, but hey thats normal, and if you have a support team like me, you know you can get through ANYTHING.
Now that I have POSSIBLY bored you half to death with a bullet point list of things I’m thankful for, and assuming you made it this far in my post {or just skipped over the last section because it’s too much to read}, PLEASE connect with me if you would like to start seeing more vlogs OR you can tell me what more you would like me to post about!!
I realize that ‘Turkey Day 2017’ video isn't THAT informational, but cut me some slack cause it was my first vlog… I also didn't want it to be informational because what if I ended up cooking it wrong, not telling you the right amount of seasoning and shiz, or even caught the house on fire?!? Well, all I am saying is that there are more chances for different types of vlogs: cooking, makeup, fashion, etc… SO Y’ALL NEED TO TELL ME!!
I hope everybody had a fabulous Thanksgiving and hopefully I’ll post to here again soon!!
xoxo v
