A Week at Home

It’s always a breath of fresh air being able to hop on a flight and go “home home” to California, especially if it’s for a week {and even if your mama schedules and packs your whole week with things with no down time}!!

Right after my class on Wednesday, I was off to Dallas to catch my flight to Los Angeles. Upon landing I was welcomed by THE BEST committee ever… MY PUPS {and my mama hehe}!! Because it was late, all I had time to do was shower, do a face mask, eat a home cooked meal, and cuddle with my kids until I ptfo.

With no “set” plans for the next day, I met up with a couple of friends to work out and grab some coffee any MY FAVORITE place: The Coffee Bean {I refused to ever drink Starbucks until I moved to Texas and Coffee Bean didn’t exist there}. Because my car is in Texas, and my dad was out of town and my mama had prior plans before I decided to book my last minute flight home, I was basically on house arrest the rest of the day. I watched Netflix, took a nap, ate whatever my mama had in the fridge, walked my dogs, and played around on my camera a lil bit {in attempts to get a pic of the pups for our Christmas card… I failed}.

Friday, I was up and somehow energized enough to go to Corepower Yoga at seven in the morning, before my mama and I headed down to Newport for the day with my Nanie and Papa. After running late {per usual with Kimmy} and sitting in traffic, we finally made it to their house. For about an hour, I got to talk about the usual things: How school is going, if I’m keeping up with my blogging, what my plans are when I’m home, how my friends are doing, what my plans are following graduation, etc.

After the entire debriefing, we packed ourselves in the car and headed to Balboa Island to have an early dinner at Wilma’s and walk around the island a little bit {well, until Papa’s walker couldn’t go any further}. Once we walked around and managed to do NO damage, we got back into the car, headed back to Big Canyon for some rice krispie treats, and then my mama and I headed back home.

The next morning, the entire family loaded up the car and we were on our way to USC for a family picnic and to watch the football game. If you know my mother, she BALLZ OUT when it comes to fixing food, even if it’s only meant for four of us… I swear, she probably packed enough for our ENTIRE extended family but it was so delicious and so much needed before a long game in the California sun. What’s pictured below isn’t even the half of it {lol}.

Because we felt bad having the dogs at home alone all day, we headed back right after the game and went to dinner where we could bring them. Honestly, nothing beats going to dinner with your fambam {and it’s not just because they pay for your food… yes, I’m a broke college student}. Also, as sad as this may sound, I was asleep with Kona wrapped in my covers no later that 9:30 pm.

Now — A trip to California isn’t actually a trip to California without going to the beach, so of course I had to accompany Nick to County Line in Malibu to go surfing {well, to watch him surf and take pictures of him surfing for my photography portfolio}. So, Sunday morning we were en route to Malibu around nine and then once he was done with the waves, we headed back home to help your mama out with preparation for our family boat cruise.

Other than being super cold because we were on water, the boat cruise and dinner at The Landing was incredible. Nana, Grandpa Krissy, and her new man all joined us on the boat and for dinner. We ate tons of guac and hummus {only two of the best food groups} and then we feasted at The Landing… Yummy food and a great atmosphere if I must say so myself.

Labor day morning I started by doubling up my workout by going to both Corepower and SoulCyle and my oh my was it killer and does my butt hurt. But of course, I guess I was just riding and yoga-ing off my calories just to eat and drink them up again because in the afternoon I was off to Nick’s place in Santa Monica to help him get ready for his lil Labor Day BBQ with all his friends. And with a party {even if it is just my brother’s} I can’t go empty handed, so I showed up with two huge cases of White Claw {if you’re reading this, sponsor me}.

Long story short though… Labor day was just a day of BBQing {or watching Nick BBQ}, playing with dogs, eating, and sippin on some juice. Because I didn’t wanna deal with all the drunkies on the road though, I decided to leave early-ish and watch a movie with a friend instead.

That’s about it though because I had to be at the airport on Tuesday… Sad day, I know. I promise I have some fun things coming up though… LIKE NEW YORK CITY AND AUSTIN CITY LIMITS!!!!!!!!!
