To say that I apologize for my preconceived notions relating to Waco would be an understatement {to a certain degree}; however, my thoughts on Baylor and their football team remains the same...
After this quick Saturday trip to Waco and the Magnolia Market Silos {shoutout to Chip and Joanna // HGTV}, I have a new idea of what Waco is like. Also, I would like to shoutout my colleague, Belle, because if it wasn't for her, Kaylie and I probably wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves as much because both of us had never been to Waco and we didn't know the lay of the land.
I must say though: I HAVE to go back when it cools down. Going to the silos in the middle of summer is brutal... So brutal that why have a medical tent for people and they have to give our free waters that are ice cold next to the water selling station. I probably saved myself about $20 right then and there.
Anyways, this morning, Kaylie came over to my place and I cooked us a yummy breakfast: scrambled eggs, avocado with chili flakes, and turkey bacon. Once we inhaled our food, we were on our way out the door and ready to fangirl over Chip and Joanna Gains and their magic in Waco...
... after a pitstop at Common Grounds of course {where I tried my first coffee drink... yup, not a fan}.
Magnolia Market honestly wasn't what I thought it would be. I truly expected it to be in the middle of a field by itself and then the actual marketplace I expected to be a little bit bigger. I couldn't have been more wrong. I think where Magnolia Market was placed is the literally the only burst of civilization in Waco.
The silos were so cute but it was too dang hot outside!!
We walked around the little garden, saw the food trucks, and would consistently go inside to stroll around and break for some air conditioning.
Truthfully, I can see myself going back because I would love to sit outside and eat at one of the food trucks or even sit on the bakery patio, but today was NOT the day to do that haha.
After we got too hot to function any longer, we decided to check out Magnolia Table for lunch. It is only about a five minute drive from the silos and it is SOOOO dang cute and matches the whole look of the market; however, the wait was way too long and there was no way that we would sit on the outside patio.
I quickly go another recommendation from Belle for lunch: Milo. Also an extremely cute // trendy lunch spot and their food was so yummy {and their cocktail list looked really good too}. For about an hour we got to rejuvenate, rehydrate, and indulge. If you find yourself in Waco, and Magnolia Table is too crowded, I highly would recommend Milo for you!! {ps: be sure to check out their bathroom... it's super cute}
Now... DESSERT!! You canNOT {I REPEAT: CANNOT} go to Magnolia Market and NOT get a cupcake!! HOLY NUTS they are absolutely incredible!! I swear, you will not regret the stomach issues // rash if you are gluten free or dairy free, granted they offer some gluten free cookie options.
Prior to going to Waco, we were told the line for the bakery would be AT LEAST two hours. Now, I don't know if it was only twenty minutes because it was as hot as Satan's den outside or what, but I TOTALLY get the hype and I want to go back and try one of their cinnamon rolls for freakin sure.
Next weekend I am off to Chicago, so I hope y'all keep up with me then!!
xoxo V
